Large forest fire in the year 1976 strucks the hillside of Kyseľ opposite the Kláštorisko (see pic.), partialy also the hillside behind the ridge to the left. It is highly probable, that the cause of it was irresponsibility of visitors. The fire result in often falling stone avalanches and rests of burned trees to the valley. It was very dangerous for visitors, so the gorge was closed and all the access devices were dismantled. Only upper part of the gorge (where was not the fire) stay accessible for turists.

K ústiu Kyseľa do Bieleho potoka, teda k nástupu na prechod roklinou Kyseľ sa dostaneme buď z Čingova hore Prielomom Hornádu až pod Tomášovský výhľad, kde sa do Hornádu zľava vlieva Biely potok. Odtiaľ pokračujeme hore Bielym potokom až k ústiu Kyseľa. Druhá možnosť je zostup z Kláštoriska žltou značkou strmou serpentínou. Táto nás dovedie priamo k ústiu Kyseľa. After demanding adjustment is all of Kyseľ gorge again accesible from the august 2016. This rule applies only during the season (15.VI. - 31.X.) and only with some limitations about obligatory equipment of visitors.

Due to the position of footrests and ropes, which are sometimes installed on rock overhangs, the transition is more difficult in places. That's why compulsory insurance is important. But those who are not afraid of getting their feet wet in the stream, the footrests can be omitted somewhere.

Regardless of the steep slopes disturbed by the fire in such extreme terrain, rocks or smaller rock avalanches sometimes fall sponta- neously. In some places, chamois, which like to graze on steep slopes, can also help. That's why a helmet is important, although in the case of larger rocks, even this will not help. However, such injuries are extremely rare, although not ruled out.

Barikádový waterfall

Firstly, due to the remoteness, but also due to a certain physical and fitness demands, Kyseľ is not suitable for all visitors to the Slovak Paradise. It is always necessary to have an idea of what one is embarking on and consider the suitability and appropriateness of the trip accordingly. It is recommended for young people up to 18 years of age to be accompanied only by an adult, up to 6 years at all.

By the Barikádový waterfall

So again we have one neoplasm - FERRATA. It is necessary to understand the secured path, the so-called via ferrata. This means that there are no ladders and a large part of the route is situated on footrests. The tourist is secured by a security rope. But an important purpose of the ferrata is also the successful protection of sensitive flora from trampling.

Mandatory equipment consists of a helmet, harness and a ferrata set with a shock absorber. It can be used on its own, or for a fee is available in the adjacent tourist centers. However, gloves are also high- ly recommended.

The transfer of Ferrata Kyseľ is charged, a one-time tax is 5 Euro per person, possibly borrowing for security and protective equipment.

Kaplnkový waterfall - this is its condition before large forest fire in the year 1976.

This nice, but inconspicuous cascade remained the result of rock avalanches from the former very ad- mired Kaplnkový waterfall. Unfortunately, the consequences of the fire in Kyseł most damaged this wa- terfall. Judge for yourself - compare this with the previous picture.

This very atractive part of Kyseľ gorge is named Temnica.

Don’t go here, if you have some problems with height.

Bridge over Obrovský waterfall. However, the view from above is far from as attractive as from below - the whole waterfall is not visible. Here sometimes the loop from the sidewalk from Kláštorisko ended, to the right of the bridge was a steep sidewalk back to the branching end of Kyseľ (Big and Small). After the opening of Kyseľ, this return part was canceled and access is only from below.

Don’t follow it ! A sad warning at the bridge over the Obrovský waterfall for those who want to take risks and disrespect the ban on moving off the marked sidewalks.

Conclusion of Kyseľ During the closure of Kyseľ, the yellow loop descended from the sidewalk from Kláš- torisko to Veľký and Malý Kyseľ through this little gorge above the Obrovský waterfall and returned from the bridge above it to the Kyseľ branch. Now the return part of this loop is canceled and the sidewalk to the Kláštorisko is started by this nice gorge in the opposite direction. It's narrow, so they used to have minor constipations. Now, however, one should not come here from above, and Kyseľ, with its remoteness and relatively higher de- mands, will never reach Suchá Belá in terms of at- tendance, so there is pro- bably no need to worry about constipation.

Conclusion of Kyseľ Very attractive conclu- sion of a small gorge above Obrovsky water- fall. A little further up the steep step and we are on the sidewalk. On the left, the end of Kyseľ bran- ches to Veľký (Vyšný) and Malý (Bočný) Kyseľ, and on the right, after a while, we also come to a crossroads: on the up- per left we can continue towards Malá Poľana and Glac. But most tou- rists descend at the bottom right - after a while they are in the Kláštorisko, where you can relax, eat or rinse your throat with a beer.

Koch When you come out of the gorge, after a while you will be attracted by this little cave above the sidewalk to the Klášto- risko. When you go to it, look up inside.

Koch (chimney) There is this interes- ting stone chimney. Its name is Koch and this little valley is named Kochová dolka (valley) .
