Pic. 2 Little waterfall
The
view
from
above
-
from
the
bridge.
The
beginning
of
this
gorge
is
cca
1
km
long
easy
forest
road.
After
that
the
valley
fork
-
directly
continue
the
hiking
trail
along
Veľký
(Big)
Sokol
gorge,
to
the
right
is
Malý
(Little)
Sokol.
There
isn´t
path
with
tourist´s
sighns
and
there
are
no
tourist
atractions
as
waterfalls or cascades are.
Pic. 5: Cascades
There
are
only
two
waterfals
in
Sokol
gorge
-
Little
one
and
Big
one.
But
here
are
a
lot
of
narrows
with
an
interesting
cascades.
These
are
above
the
Big
waterfal.
Here
are
very
useful
some
tracking
sticks.
Pic. 7: The Róth´s Gorge
The
interesting
narrow
kanyon
in
upper
part
of
Veľký
Sokol.
Everywhere
in
the
gorges
you
have
to
step
on
wet
stones
and
wood,
which
are
extremly
slippery.
This
is
often
the
reason
of
injuries,
so be carefull.
Pic. 9: The Roth´s Gorge
Maybe
someone
pau-
ses
wondered
why
there
is
so
much
“messy
place”,
i.e.
wood
and
old
dry
trunks.
Note,
however,
that
the
purpose
of
reservations
is
just
the
least
interfere
with
the
development
of
a
pro-
tected
area,
so
i
“mess”
of
dead
trees
completes
the
picture
of
wild
nature,
too.
In
addition,
any
vacated
would
be
financially
and
techno-
logically
very
tyre
-
well,
there
is
actually
no
where.
Perhaps
it
would
help
just
a
helicopter,
you
can
also
cut
it
into
smaller
pieces
and
wait
until
next
high
water
flushes them out.
Pic. 4: The Big Waterfall
It´s
a
little
mystery,
who
and
why
names
these
waterfalls
“Big”
and
“Little”
one.
They
are
close
themselves,
so
the
flow
is
the
same,
even
the
official
dates
says,
that
the
Little
Waterfall
is
higher
by
1,5
m
than
the
Big
one
is.
But
this
is
no
substantial
-
both
of
them certainly enjoy.
Pic. 6: The Róth´s Gorge
This
gorge
-
the
upper
part
of
Veľký
Sokol
-
is
named
after
the
master
of
highschool
in
Spišska
Nova
Ves
town
:
Mr.
Martin
Róth.
He
was
the
pioneer
of
tourism
and
climbing
in
High
Tatras
mountains.
We
can
to
join
his
name
with
first
crossings
of
the
gorges
of
Slovak
Paradise
at
the
turn
of
the
19th
-
20th
centuries.
He
realised
the
first
crossing
of
Veľký
Sokol
with
his
two
friends
in the year 1898.
Pic. 8: The Róth´s Gorge
Just
these
dead
trees
are
giving
to
this
area
some
originality and wilderness.
Pic. 10: The Róth´s gorge
The
End
of
the
Róth´s
gorge.
Here
we
go
up
on
the
forest
road.
We
can
go
back
to
the
left,
continue
to
mountain
plateau
Geravy
or
to
village
Stratená
to
the
right.
